Training Manager - Hospitality and Tourism

Relocation to Yulara in the Uluru region is required

This is a full-time, onsite position based in Yulara, Northern Territory, approximately 20 minutes from Uluru.

Applicants must be prepared to relocate and live within the local resort community. This is not a Sydney-based, remote or work-from-home position.

For the right hospitality training leader, this role offers meaningful work, substantial responsibility and an opportunity to reduce living costs while experiencing life in one of Australia’s most recognised regions.

The package

  • $120,000 plus super

  • Employee rent generally around $100 to $150 per week after the housing subsidy

  • Housing allocated around individual or family needs

  • Work vehicle

  • Mobile phone and laptop

  • Up to $1,500 reimbursement for eligible relocation costs

  • Staff meals while working

  • Employee discounts

  • Minimum 18-month commitment, with ongoing employment available

Rent of $100 to $150 per week represents approximately $5,200 to $7,800 per year. For someone currently paying city rental prices, the lower housing cost provides a genuine opportunity to retain more income and build savings.

Partners and children are welcome. Where skills align with available vacancies, assistance is available for partners exploring local employment.

The role

You will lead a small team delivering nationally accredited, workplace-based hospitality and tourism traineeships within a major destination resort.

The position is approximately 60% people leadership and 40% hands-on training and assessment.

This is not a desk-based management role. You will remain close to trainees, trainers, workplace supervisors and operational leaders. You will set expectations, guide delivery, monitor performance and support trainees with different learning, cultural and personal needs.

The program supports First Nations trainees to develop confidence, workplace capability and sustainable careers in hospitality and tourism. Previous experience working with First Nations learners is welcomed, though it is not essential. Cultural respect, patience and an adaptable training style are more important.

Your responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop trainers, assessors and education-support employees

  • Set clear delivery expectations, workloads, priorities and deadlines

  • Monitor employee performance and engagement

  • Conduct performance, probation and development discussions

  • Coordinate training and assessment across workplace-based programs

  • Deliver and assess hospitality or tourism units within your vocational scope

  • Monitor trainee attendance, progress, workplace performance and completion

  • Address skills gaps, behavioural concerns and training interventions

  • Support trainees through difficult personal or workplace circumstances

  • Maintain accurate RTO records and reporting

  • Support validation, moderation and continuous improvement

  • Ensure training and assessment practices meet RTO and training-package requirements

  • Build effective relationships with workplace supervisors, operational managers, host employers and RTO partners

  • Maintain a safe, inclusive and culturally respectful environment

What you will bring

Hospitality or tourism qualifications and current industry experience are essential.

You will need:

  • A Certificate III or higher in Hospitality or Tourism

  • Relevant industry experience within the past three years

  • Experience in food and beverage, front office, housekeeping, accommodation services or tourism operations

  • TAE40116, or TAE40110 with TAEASS502 and TAELLN401

  • At least five years of relevant training and leadership experience

  • Direct experience leading trainers, assessors or operational employees

  • Confidence managing performance, setting standards and developing employees

  • Strong knowledge of vocational education, workplace delivery and adult learning

  • An inclusive and adaptable approach to supporting learners from varied backgrounds

  • An understanding of RTO compliance, validation and assessment quality

  • Unrestricted Australian working rights

  • A valid manual Class C driver’s licence

  • A current Working with Children Check, or eligibility to obtain one

Experience with First Nations learners, traineeships, aXcelerate or remote training environments will be regarded favourably, though these are not essential.

The person who will succeed

You will be calm, practical and consistent.

You will know how to support employees while maintaining clear standards. You will remain composed when handling attendance concerns, learner-support needs, workplace conflict or employee performance issues.

You will respect different cultural backgrounds and adjust your communication and training approach to suit individual learners.

Living in Yulara

Yulara is a compact resort community with a supermarket, post office, service station, dining options, medical services, recreation facilities and local transport.

The lifestyle offers little traffic, access to remarkable country and a strong community environment.

It is also important to understand the reality. Yulara is approximately 450 kilometres from Alice Springs. Shopping, entertainment and specialist services are limited, summers are hot, and colleagues often live and work alongside one another.

Small dogs are subject to housing availability and approval. Cats are not permitted.
