Bright Spark Recruitment is partnering with a leading maritime training provider in beautiful Cairns, North Queensland, seeking experienced maritime professionals to transition into teaching and training roles.

Who are we looking for?
We're interested in speaking with experienced maritime professionals across three key areas.
DECK – Masters & Navigation
Master up to 24 metres Near Coastal – MAR30921
Master up to 45 metres Near Coastal – MAR40324
Relevant experience in navigation, chartwork, ECDIS, GMDSS and maritime operations.
MARINE ENGINEERING
Marine Engine Driver Grade 3 Near Coastal (MED3) – MAR20421
Marine Engine Driver Grade 2 Near Coastal (MED2) – MAR30821
Marine Engine Driver Grade 1 Near Coastal (MED1) – MAR40220
Marine Engineer Class 3 Near Coastal or higher.
For the dedicated Marine Engineering teaching position, MAR50120 Diploma of Marine Engineering (Engineer Class 3 Near Coastal) or a higher relevant qualification is required.
STCW & MARITIME SAFETY
We're also keen to hear from suitably qualified professionals with experience in:
STCW safety and survival training.
Basic and advanced firefighting.
Maritime security and emergency response.
MARSS00033 Safety Training Certification Skill Set.
SSMAR0017 Advanced Firefighting Skill Set.
Relevant STCW Deck, Engineering or Integrated Rating qualifications.
STCW educators must meet the applicable AMSA MT07 lecturer requirements for the training they deliver.
What will you be doing?
You'll turn your real-world maritime experience into practical, engaging training, helping students develop the knowledge, judgement and confidence to operate safely at sea.
Depending on your qualifications, you'll deliver training across Deck, Marine Engineering, navigation, safety and survival, firefighting or other maritime programs.
You'll also support student development, assessment and industry-standard training delivery.
Do I need teaching experience?
Not necessarily!
If you already hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent), that's fantastic !
If you have strong maritime qualifications and extensive industry experience but haven't taught before, we'd still encourage you to get in touch. Our client may consider supporting suitable candidates through the required TAE pathway.
